Brian Nevel joined Potestivo & Associates, P.C. in May 2020 and is based in the Chicago, Illinois office.  He serves as the Senior Associate for the firm’s Illinois Litigation Department.

Brian brings over 8 years of experience representing banks, lenders and businesses in real estate litigation, creditors’ rights, and debt collection.  While advocating for his clients, Brian has handled complex contract disputes, commercial disputes and contested litigation.   Throughout his career he has gained expertise in issues impacting the industry, including the Uniform Commercial Code (UCC), the Truth in Lending Act (TILA), the Federal Real Estate Settlement and Procedures Act (RESPA), the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA), sovereign immunity and other jurisdictional issues specific to Illinois.  Brian has worked hard to develop good relationships with attorneys and courts while preserving collateral and achieving cost-effective resolutions on behalf of his clients.

Brian received his B.A. from Indiana University with an emphasis in Telecommunications and a minor in Political Science. Thereafter, he attended Cooley Law School, where he was a Semi-Finalist in the 2012 Intra-School Moot Court Competition.

Brian is an active member of the Illinois State Bar Association, Chicago Bar Association and Illinois Creditors’ Bar Association.
