Grand Rapids, MI – Brian L. Groen, Associate Attorney, attended the Groundbreaker Roundtable at Downtown Market in Grand Rapids this past week. The event was sponsored by the MBA Real Property Section and focused on the Tax Aspects of Real Estate. These roundtables were hosted by representatives from Seaver Title Agency located out of Bloomfield Hills, Stout Risius Ross, Inc., out of Southfield, and Dickinson Wright located in Lansing. Participants were able to sit on three 30-minute roundtable discussions covering various aspects of taxation in real estate. It was a great discussion focusing on the many tax aspects that can affect all those involved in real estate!
Brian L. Groen joined Potestivo & Associates, P.C. in October 2009 and is based in the Grand Rapids office. Prior to joining our firm, Brian worked at various law firms in the Grand Rapids area, including a position where he managed all aspects of Michigan-referred cases from a national foreclosure company, including foreclosure-by-advertisement, judicial foreclosures, and title claims. Brian also drafted and edited various briefs on appeal to the Michigan Court of Appeals. Brian earned his B.S. in Criminal Justice with a concentration in Psychology from Grand Valley State University, where he was awarded as Outstanding Student in Criminal Justice. He then went on to earn his J.D. from Thomas M. Cooley School of Law, where he graduated Magna Cum Laude. Brian’s professional affiliations are with the State Bar of Michigan and the Grand Rapids Bar Association.
